Czech Point Restaurant & Pub

The Dvorak Story

Milo and Irene Dvorak farmed 160 acres five miles southwest of Clutier for many years. Children Paul, David and Camilla grew up on the farm and attended Carroll No. 7 rural school for most of their elementary years. Paul and David graduated from Clutier High School, while Camilla graduated from North Tama High school. Paul married Trudy Becker and eventually moved to Dallas, Texas. David married Carol Hartwig and resided in Flint, Michigan. Camilla married Marvin Dostal and moved to his family farm northeast of Clutier. After the children left home, Milo and Irene moved to Clutier for their retirement years. They became the first residents of Sunrise Assisted Living Center in Traer in 2010.

With emphasis on their Czech heritage, the Dvorak family opened the Czech Point Restaurant & Pub on June 29, 2011. The initial opening allowed Clutier area residents access to the business while preparations for the Grand Opening continued. After being open for less than two weeks, the infamous July 11 Derecho storm caused considerable damage to the City of Clutier, farmland around Clutier and the Czech Point buildings. With help from some very dedicated workmen, Czech Point was open for the First Annual Bohemian Plum Festival held on August 6 and 7. The Grand Opening was held on September 22, 23 & 24.
